Palm Sunday

Gospel for the Procession (Luke 19:28-40). Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem is a sign that the peace and salvation decreed by God is at hand.

Philippians 2:6-11. Jesus humbled himself even to death on a cross. His father rewarded his obedience and humility, by raising him up and making him Lord of heaven and earth.

The Passion according to St Luke (22:39-23:49). Throughout his Gospel, St Luke portrays Jesus as the merciful and forgiving Saviour of humanity. In his account of the Passion, we see Jesus forgive his executioners and bring salvation to a criminal.  As he dies he says, ‘Father, forgive them…’. Even in the hour of greatest insult and injury, Jesus heals, forgives and promises salvation to fragile and sinful people.
