    Readings for this Sunday

Sunday 26 January 2020: 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Isaiah 8:23-9:3. The prophet foresees the great day of liberation when the Lord will visit his oppressed people and set them free.

1 Corinthians 1:10-13,17. A number of rival factions have sprung up in the community at Corinth. Paul, in appealing for unity, reminds them that all are baptised into Christ and there can only been loyalty - loyalty to Christ

Matthew 4:12-17. Jesus fulfils Isaiah’s prophecy; the great light has dawned. And he picks up the torch from the hand of John the Baptist, who has been arrested. ‘Repent’, he says, continuing the Baptist’s call to conversion.
