14 October 2018

29th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Isaiah 53:10-11.  The Suffering Servant of Isaiah offers his life in atonement for the sins of his people. His death will be the beginning of glorification for him and a source of blessing for others.

Hebrews 4:14-16.  In Jesus we have a high priest who can sympathise with us in all our trials and sufferings. We can approach him with confidence because he knows our weaknesses.

Mark 10:35-45.  Here we see James and John demonstrate how far they are from Jesus’ spirit of self-sacrifice. But in the Kingdom of God, service is what makes one great.
